Attending a ceremony

You don't need to contact us to book a ceremony. We will write to you to invite you to your citizenship ceremony.

What happens at a ceremony

The ceremony lasts about 45 minutes and includes:

  • introduction and welcome
  • new citizens will then swear or affirm allegiance to the Queen and make a pledge of loyalty
  • presentation of citizenship certificate
Photography

There may be a professional photographer at your ceremony. Photographs will be available to buy on the day:

  • £11 for a photograph of the presentation of your British Citizenship Certificate
  • £7 passport photographs

You can pay by credit/debit card or with cash.
