Hampshire's preparation for Brexit: traffic and transport

Portsmouth International Port is essential for transporting freight quickly to ports in France, Spain and the Channel Islands. The Port is currently ready and able to handle additional freight. If there is a no-deal exit, there is a co-ordinated plan with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Local Resilience Forum (LRF) agencies to control the flow of commercial traffic and identify areas where hauliers travelling to the port can stop without congesting the M275.

An area in West Tipner has been identified as a suitable location for a temporary, short-stay processing area. A holding area for freight vehicles going to the Port will be set up on a 3 mile stretch of the A31 dual carriageway, between Winchester and Alresford.
