County Supplies Logistics - reducing our carbon footprint
Before the merger, demand for traditional courier services was in decline, with many documents being sent electronically. We recognised that a lot of the journeys that the Courier Service was making were also being made by County Supplies delivery trucks. With the need to tackle climate change and reduce emissions high on our agenda, it was clear that the most sustainable way forward would be a combined service, rationalising routes and deliveries.
- Since the merger our annual fleet mileage has been reduced by more than 273,400 miles (33%)
- Removal of 8 commercial vehicles from our fleet, helping to achieve further environmental benefits
- The replacement of 10 vehicles since 2020/21 which use a modern, energy efficient fuel (alternative to diesel) and a further 4 vehicle replacements planned through 2022
- Carbon footprint will be reduced across the fleet helping to improve sustainability
