Hampshire County Council’s Trading Standards Service has received several complaints regarding leather jackets being sold out of the back of cars. All reports indicate that the sales have taken place in the car parks of large retail premises.
In particular, it appears the sellers are targeting senior residents.
The jackets are described as Italian leather, and carry trade marks such as ‘Armani’. These goods are known to be fake.
Trading Standards warn that any statutory rights that the consumer may have against the seller will be very difficult to enforce, and urge residents not to purchase goods in this manner.
Any suspicious activity can be reported to the police on 101, or to Trading Standards via our partners at the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 05 06 07.
