iTunes gift cards

Hampshire Trading Standards Service have been notified of an email purporting to originate from a District Councillor. It requests the purchase of iTunes gift cards.

This is a scam perpetrated by fraudsters in order for them to redeem these gift cards, using the serial numbers, for money.

Once the gift card value has been redeemed the victim will have no chance of getting the money back.

DO NOT act on or reply to this email.

It is likely that District and County Councillors will be specifically targeted. However, the wider community should be on their guard against receiving such emails.

To inform Trading Standards about scams, report the matter to our partners at the Citizens Advice Consumer Helpline on 03454 04 05 06.
