July was Scams awareness month. The theme for this year dealt with 'the spike in the number of shoppers who are scammed into buying non-existent goods’.
Running over four weeks each week had a different theme.
- Life established 45s-60s – largest group targeted
- Young people 18-24 – this group has seen a sharp rise in number of victims
- Socially isolated – hardest to reach and high levels of recurring victims
- Over 70s – high level of detriment
