Adults with a disability - Supported Living - Small Grants Programme

This grants programme has been devised to help organisations providing new supported living opportunities for adults with disabilities to enable them to provide items for the property that may be difficult to source or fund in other ways.

The fund provides grants up to £5000 to organisations working in Hampshire to provide supported living for adults with disabilities.

Who should this grant support

Beneficiaries

The grants will be provided to support people with disabilities to access supported living and to have their own tenancies:

  • people with learning disabilities
  • people with physical disabilities
  • people moving out of residential care
  • young people moving out of residential school or college
  • people whose care and support is the responsibility of Hampshire County Council Adult Services
What is funded

Areas of Interest

New supported living services that will support Hampshire County Council’s aim to reduce the number of people with disabilities living in residential care.

Partnership and solution

Applications are welcomed from organisations operating in Hampshire who are offering supported living to individuals with a disability whose care and support is the responsibility of Hampshire County Council.

Applications are limited to a maximum grant of £4999.99 per scheme (there may be multiple applications from one provider involved in more then one scheme).

Acceptable project examples

  • purchase of white goods for individuals moving into their own flats
  • purchase of furniture for communal areas in shared housing
  • purchase of kitchen equipment for shared housing
  • small property modifications that are not eligible for a capital grant or DFG that support someone to move from residential care to supported living.
Grant criteria and eligibility

We will consider organisations that have developed proposed solutions fulfilling our criteria, and that will comply with mutually agreed reporting and monitoring requirements. We expect voluntary and community organisations to be offering a service in Hampshire. We are unable to award funding to commercial enterprises and/or individuals acting in their own capacity.

Any application must ensure:

  • that it is to support adults with disabilities
  • that it will support the above group to move to supported living and to have their own tenancy
  • that it will support individuals whose care and support is the responsibility of Hampshire County Council Adult Services
  • that it will be used to purchase goods or make modifications as a one off contribution to the set up of a new scheme. Organisations will need to have a strategy for the replacement of items when they wear out or break
  • they are able to demonstrate to HCC Commissioners where the money has been spent.
How much can I apply for?

Applications are limited to a maximum grant of £4999.99 per scheme (there may be multiple applications from one provider involved in more then one scheme).

The term of the grant will be from 1st April 2018 until 31st March 2019.

What isn't funded?
  • The provision of equipment or furniture in existing supported living schemes (i.e. any scheme that has been fully occupied by the intended client group)
  • furniture for an individual’s bedroom
  • items that are eligible for a capital grant (i.e. for equipment repair, maintenance and routine improvements)
  • provision of equipment or alterations that are eligible for funding through a DFG
  • to provide items or equipment that are identified in the service charges  as the responsibility of a Housing Provider
  • to support individuals whose care and support is not the responsibility of Hampshire County Council.
