River Hamble Notice To River Users No 11 of 2019

Notice of Uncontrolled Swimming and Anti-social Behaviour at various Sites within the River

Notice of Uncontrolled Swimming and associated Anti-Social Behaviour at Various Locations Until October 2019

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that recent warm weather has regrettably brought with it incidents of uncontrolled swimming and occasional anti-social behaviour from a minority at a number of locations within the River. These episodes are expected to last until the end of September. Hamble Jetty, Bursledon and River Hamble Country Park Jetty can all attract large numbers of swimmers.

2. The Harbour Authority patrols these areas routinely and to good effect but anti-social behaviour is criminal activity and Police business. Accordingly, Police Dispersal Orders are implemented and enforced to clear the relevant area. River Users must nevertheless be mindful of the potential presence of swimmers and their low profile in the water and report any anti-social behaviour to Hampshire Constabulary by dialing 101 or 999, if appropriate. River Users are advised to both listen out on VHF Channel 68 and call the Harbour Office for further advice.

3. Cancel this Notice 30th September 2019.
