Contractors (Aquascience) working on behalf of Hampshire County Council's Countryside Service will be commencing path works on the short section of Fareham public footpath 3a between Universal Marina and Crableck Lane on 2 September 2019. Works will include boarding of both sides of the path to ensure that the new path material remains in place even with very high tides and the installation of a short (10m) section of rock rolls to reduce further erosion to the riverside bank and enable the path to be built back up to an appropriate level.
These works are part of a wider scheme of planned works that will secure the longevity of this public footpath and take into account the impact of climate change on sea levels.
These works are scheduled to last 2 weeks but the closure is in place for the month of September to allow time for unexpected delays and bad weather. The contractors will do all they can to ensure that the path can continue to be used safely in the evenings and at weekends. Please adhere to site notices and follow the temporary diversion for both the safety of yourselves and people working on site. Thank you for your cooperation.
