Highways – Temporary Road Closure from Eastleigh Borough Council in Eastleigh area

BOROUGH OF EASTLEIGH

ROAD TRAFFIC REGULATION ACT 1984 – SECTION 14(1)

TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION ORDER

HIGH STREET, MARKET STREET & LEIGH ROAD, EASTLEIGH

By arrangements made with Hampshire County Council, notice is hereby given that Eastleigh Borough Council proposes to make a temporary Traffic Regulation Order pursuant to the legislation above (as amended) as the Council is satisfied that all vehicular traffic on the roads below should be restricted to facilitate social distancing in relation to the Coronavirus outbreak.

Effect of Order:

To close the following roads in Eastleigh town centre to all vehicular traffic:

High Street from its junction with Leigh Road to its junction with Wells PlaceMarket Street from its junction with Leigh Road to its junction with Wells PlaceLeigh Road, from 20 metres west of High Street to its junction with High StreetWells Place from its junction with High Street to its junction with Hanns WayMarket Street to Mitchell Road footpath from Market Street to the rear wall of 44b Market StreetRegal Walk for its entire lengthHigh Street to Wells Road footpath for its entire lengthDelbridges Yard car park at its access to High StreetUnnamed road between Nos 12 and 14 High Street leading from High Street to Wells Place at its access to High Street

To remove the one-way working on Leigh Road, Eastleigh between Desborough Road, Eastleigh and a point 20 metres west of High Street, Eastleigh

To suspend the Pay & Display parking bays, parking places for solo motorcycles, parking places for Disabled Badge holders, loading bays and taxi ranks on High Street (between Leigh Road and Wells Place), Market Street (between Leigh Road and Wells Place), Leigh Road (between Holy Cross Church and Southampton Road) and Wells Place between High Street and Hanns Way, Eastleigh

To introduce a loading bay in place of Pay & Display, solo motorcycle and Disabled Persons' parking bays on the north side of Leigh Road, Eastleigh from the eastern flank wall of Holy Cross Church to 32 metres west of High Street, Eastleigh

To introduce Disabled Persons' Parking places in place of Pay & Display parking on the south side of Leigh Road, Eastleigh between Southampton Road and Market Street, Eastleigh

No exemptions will apply to this Order

Alternative Routes:

Via Southampton Road and Wells Place; via Desborough Road and Wells Place

Reason for Order:

To facilitate social distancing in relation to the Coronavirus outbreak

Period of Order:

Monday 15 June 2020 to Wednesday 21 April 2021, (or until such time that social distancing measures are no longer considered necessary, whichever is the sooner).
