Highways – Temporary Road Closure from Hart District Council in Hart area

Notice is hereby given that Hart District Council, pursuant to arrangements made under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972 with Hampshire County Council in exercise of the powers of the said County Council and in exercise of the powers under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, (and in accordance with the temporary provisions applicable during the coronavirus pandemic) that, because of the likelihood of danger to the public and for purposes connected to coronavirus, has made the following Order:

Reason for Order:

The Council are satisfied that traffic on the road should be restricted or prohibited to support social distancing by way of reallocating highway space/closing links to motorised traffic but retaining access for pedestrians and pedal cyclists.

Effect of Order:

All motor vehicles will be prohibited from proceeding and stopping along those roads listed below, as indicated by traffic signs.

  1. A3013 FLEET ROAD – from the junction with Church Road to the junction with Victoria Road (those Fleet Road residents and employees of businesses with addresses as: evens 140 to 164, and odds 229 to 247, access will be from Branksomewood Road only)
  2. UPPER STREET - between the junction with Clarence Road to the junction with Albert Street (Upper Street residents' and businesses' access from Albert Street only)

This Order may be cited as "The Hart District Council (Temporary Prohibition of Motor Vehicles) (A3013 Fleet Road & Upper Street, Fleet) Order 2020".

Duration of Closure:

From 24th August 2020 for a period of 12 months. The closure will be continuously enforced during the period specified.

Alternative Route:

A3013 Fleet Road: For non-HGV traffic: B3010 Kings Road to Albert Street, then A323 Reading Road North to A3013 Fleet Road and vice versa as indicated by traffic signs; For HGV traffic: the northern point of closure via A30 London Road, A327 Minley Road, B3013 Minley Road, A3013 Fleet Road, A323 Reading Road North and A323 Fleet Road to southern point of closure and vice versa, as indicated by traffic signs.Upper Street: Eastbound via Albert Street, B3010 Kings Road,Clarence Road and vice versa; westbound via Albert Street, A323 Reading Road South, Clarence Road and vice versa.
