THE HAMPSHIRE (THE CAUSEWAY, ROMSEY) (WEIGHT RESTRICTION) ORDER 2020
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on 21 October 2020, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.
The general nature and effect of the Order: Will be to prohibit vehicles exceeding 26 tonnes gross maximum weight on the entire length of The Causeway bridge at Romsey.
Date of operation: This Order will come into force on 31 October 2020.
FURTHER DETAILS: Some of the buildings previously closed during the Coronavirus Pandemic at which the documents relating to these matters could normally be viewed have re-opened with reduced hours – there may be no paper copies and access to the documents may only be available on-line or via e-mail as follows:
(i) Romsey Library, Station Road, Romsey (temporary opening hours: Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays 10 – 4) please telephone 01962 454747 to arrange access to the on-line documents.
(ii) Test Valley Borough Council Offices, Former Magistrates' Court, Station Road, Romsey (temporary opening hours Monday to Friday 9 – 4 – please telephone 01794 52770 for access arrangements.

Application to the High Court:- Any person wishing to question the validity of the Order or of any of the provisions contained therein on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Road Traffic Regulation Act, 1984 or that any of the relevant requirements thereof or of any relevant regulations made thereunder have not been complied with in relation to the Order may, within six weeks of the date on which the Order was made, make application for that purpose to the High Court.
