River Hamble Harbour Authority Notice to River Users No 6 of 2021

Notice of Monthly Sailing and Waterborne Events and Activity for June and July 2021

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the following significant events and activity will be encountered on the River Hamble during June and July 2021. Other events may be added and River Users are advised to both listen out on VHF Channel 68 and call the Harbour Office for further advice. River Users are advised to take account of these when planning and executing navigation within the River.

a. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings, throughout the month – Warsash and Hamble River Sailing Clubs – Dinghy sailing and racing commencing at Warsash at around 1800 to the mouth of the River. Starts may take up to an hour and River Users are advised to make use, if and when appropriate, of the Secondary Channel.

b. Paddleboarding and Kayaking. Having experienced a surge in popularity following the COVID 19 outbreak, considerable activity prevails throughout the River, most notably from Swanwick. Signage for small craft not to impede the safe passage of larger vessels is in place but this does not relieve larger vessels of their responsibilities in accordance with the International Regulations for the Prevention of Collisions at Sea. Care must be taken by all parties, in particular, to maintain a proper look out and proceed at a safe speed, taking all factors into account.
