TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSAL – THE HAMPSHIRE (VARIOUS ROADS) (A326 MARCHWOOD BYPASS 30, 40 & 50 MILES PER HOUR) (VARIATIONS) SPEED LIMIT ORDER 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council ("the Council") proposes to make a traffic order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Section 84 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ("the Act") and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

THE GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECT OF THE ORDER: will be treat the following lengths of road as Restricted Roads and also to impose 30, 40 and 50mph speed limits along various lengths of road as follows:

Restricted Roads

(i) U147 Roman Road between its junction with U142 Butts Ash Lane and its junction with The Heath Roundabout (A326), approximately 680 metres.

(ii) C97 Sizer Way between its junction with Applemore Roundabout (A326 Hythe Bypass) and its roundabout junction with C97 Sizer Way / C97 Claypits Lane and the unnamed access lane to the superstore, an approximate distance of 189 metres.

(iii) C97 Beaulieu Road (north-bound) between its junction with the Heath Roundabout (A326 Hythe Bypass) and a point approximately 9 metres north thereof.

(iv) C97 Beaulieu Road (south-bound) between a point at the existing 30mph speed limit to its junction with Heath Roundabout (A326 Hythe Bypass) and a point approximately 9 metres south-east of that point.

(v) C119 Long Copse between its junction with C41 Rollestone Road/Newlands Road and its roundabout junction with A326 Long Lane/B3053 Fawley Road at Kennels Corner, an approximate distance of 525m.

30mph

(i) U142 Roman Road between its junction with U142 Butts Ash Lane and its junction with Heath Roundabout (A326 Hythe Bypass), a distance of approximately 700m.

(ii) U148 New Road between its junction with the A326 (Long Lane) and its junction with U148 Cadland Road an approximate distance of 13 metres.

(iii) U148 Hardley Industrial Estate between its junction with Hardley Roundabout (A326 Long Lane) and a point 23 metres west thereof (i.e.at the existing 30mph terminal).

(iv) U148 Cadland Road between its junction with Hardley Roundabout (A326 Long Lane) and its north-eastern point of termination and approximate distance of 1542 metres.

40mph

(i) C97 Dibden Bottom Road between its junction with Applemore Roundabout (A326 Hythe Bypass) and a point (at the cattle grid) 220 metres west thereof.

(ii) C41 Rollestone Road between the cattle grid at Ipers bridge , approximately 500m west of its junction with U142 Park Lane and a point 45 metres west of its junction with Hampton Lane, an approximate distance of 1,830 metres.

(iii) A326 Long Lane/B3053 Fawley Road from a point 188 metres north east of its junction with the roundabout locally known as Hardley Roundabout (A326 Long Lane) to a point 32 metres south east of its roundabout junction with long Copse (Kennels Corner), including both Hardley and Kennels Corner roundabout circulatories. (iv)The entire length of the circulatory carriageway of Applemore Roundabout (A326 Hythe bypass) linking the C97 Sizer Way and C97 Dibden Bottom Road.

(iv) A326 Hythe Bypass between a point 50 metres north of the southern junction of the U141 Manor Road to a point 215 metres south of its junction with Applemore Roundabout, including the roundabout circulatory, and approximate distance of 762m.

(v) A326 Hythe Bypass between a point 342 metres north east of the A326 Heath Roundabout junction with C97 Beaulieu Road and a point 204 metres south east of the same junction, including the roundabout circulatory, an approximate distance of 652m.

50mph

(i) A326 Marchwood Bypass between its junction with A35 Rushington Roundabout and its junction with A326 Marchwood Bypass, and approximate distance of 1670 metres.

(ii) A326 Marchwood Bypass between a point 300 metres north-west of its junction with the western leg of Staplewood Lane and a point 750 metres south east of its junction with A35 northbound off slip, an approximate distance of 1845 metres.

(iii) A326 Marchwood Bypass between a point 300 metres south-east of its junction with the entrance to Priory Hospital and a point 50m north of the southern junction of the U141 Manor Road, an approximate distance of 1545 metres.

(iv) A326 Hythe Bypass between a point 215 metres south-east of its junction with Applemore Roundabout and a point 342 metres north-east of its junction with Heath Roundabout, an approximate distance of 1250 metres.

OBJECTIONS: All objections and other representations in respect of this proposal must be sent in writing to the undersigned quoting reference:- C809/MB by 17th June 2022. All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Persons wishing to make objections or other representations are advised that in the order-making process, objections or other representations may become publicly available and therefore the names and addresses of those persons making objections or other representations may also be made publicly available.

TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as "The Hampshire (Various Roads) (A326, Waterside Area and A35 / A36 Totton Area) (Restricted Road, 20, 30, 40 and 50 Miles per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2022."
