River Hamble Harbour Authority Notice To River Users No 12 of 2022

Notice of Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash Regatta 3rd-4th September 2022

Notice of Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash Regatta – 3rd and 4th September 2022

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the annual Swanwick, Bursledon and Warsash Regatta will take place between 2nd and 4th September 2022. Higher levels of River traffic will be experienced throughout the weekend and all River Users are advised to take this into account when planning and executing navigation throughout the River.

This year, the Regatta will be based in Warsash, rather than at Bursledon. The majority of activity affecting the Main Channel will take place between Crableck Bend and Warsash.

Customary dinghy racing will commence at 1130 from a start line in the Main Channel South of Mercury Marina and Crableck. Dinghy race starts will be staggered and take place between there and Warsash. Races are expected to be complete by 1430.

Other water-borne events will take place during the Saturday (3rd) afternoon in the area (outside the Main Channel) inshore of Warsash Sailing Club moorings in the pool North of Warsash College Jetty.

River Hamble Patrol Vessels will patrol the area around the dinghy racing start line to guide any vessel wishing to pass through the vicinity but River Users are strongly advised to time their departure or arrival as necessary to minimize traffic at this busy period.

Enhanced outbound and inbound will be experienced between 1030 and 1530 on Sunday 4th September.

Further information can be obtained from the Harbour Office or by calling 'Hamble Harbour Radio' on VHF Channel 68.
