TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – 40 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION ON A36 SALISBURY ROAD, TOTTON
GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to: (i) Reduce the existing 50 miles per hour speed limit to 40 miles per hour on A36 Salisbury Road between a point 163 metres south-east of its junction with Pauletts Lane and a point 414 metres north-west thereof. (ii) Reduce the existing speed limit on A36 Salisbury Road between a point 190 metres east of its junction with the A326 southbound slip road and its junction with Brooks Hill Industrial estate, an approximate distance of 125 metres from unrestricted (National Speed Limit) to 40 miles per hour. This order will revoke and re-instate ‘The Hampshire (A36 Salisbury Road, Hillstreet and Pauletts Lane, Totton) (Restricted Road, 30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2014’ with no change of substance save for the extended 40 miles per hour limit, described above, and the revocation of schedule I restricted roads from the original 2014 order. TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – 40 MILES PER HOUR SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION ON A36 SALISBURY ROAD, TOTTON
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make the above-mentioned Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 82, 84 and 122(1) and (2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.
General nature and effects of the Order: Will be to:
(i) Reduce the existing 50 miles per hour speed limit to 40 miles per hour on A36 Salisbury Road between a point 163 metres south-east of its junction with Pauletts Lane and a point 414 metres north-west thereof.
(ii) Reduce the existing speed limit on A36 Salisbury Road between a point 190 metres east of its junction with the A326 southbound slip road and its junction with Brooks Hill Industrial estate, an approximate distance of 125 metres from unrestricted (National Speed Limit) to 40 miles per hour.

However, these restricted roads contained within schedule I will remain by virtue of section 82(1)(a) of the Act, 30 miles per hour with no requirement for an Order.

All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (A36 Salisbury Road, Hillstreet and Pauletts Lane, Totton) (30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2024.”
