Hampshire County Council wish to create a new open framework for the provision of additional education and supportive services commissioned by Hampshire County Council to pupils in Hampshire who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). EHCP's are for those children (0-16) or young people (16-19) or adults (19-25) with special educational needs who require support beyond that which an educational setting can provide for Children and Young People on SEN support. The service's primary function is to fulfil the Authority's statutory obligation under the Children & Families Act and SEND Regulations (2014) to assess, meet and review the needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN), through engagement with families and support professionals.
Under the Children and Families Act 2014 the purpose of an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) is to make special educational provision to meet the special educational needs of the child or young person, to secure the best possible outcomes for them across education, health and social care and, as they get older, prepare them for adulthood.
Hampshire County Council's Special Educational Needs Service is re-commissioning Alternative Provision for children and young people with SEND in Hampshire. The Sufficiency Service and Children’s Services Procurement Team will be hosting virtual market engagement events for providers working within the Alternative Provision sphere, including Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
These events are designed to provide you with further knowledge on the new framework, and there will be an opportunity to ask questions about the approach.
The virtual events will be held on the following dates. You will only be required to attend one meeting.
• Monday, 20 January – 10:30am - 12:00pm
• Tuesday, 21 January – 9:30am - 11:00am
• Monday, 27 January – 2:30pm - 4:00pm
• Thursday, 30 January – 2:30pm - 4:00pm
It is the Council's intention that all new placements will be made through the new framework from the 1st September 2025.
