PROPOSAL TO REDUCE RESOURCED PROVISION PLACES FOR PUPILS WITH SPECIFIC LEARNING DIFFICULTIES (SPLD) AT APPLEMORE COLLEGE, DIBEN PURLIEU FROM SEPTEMBER 2025

Hampshire County Council plans to reduce the Resourced Provision for Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) at Applemore College in Southampton from 20 to 12 places due to reduced demand and improved SEN support in secondary schools. This change will take effect from September 2025 and will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at the school.

1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with Section 19(1) of the Education and Inspections Act 2006, that Hampshire County Council intends to make a prescribed alteration to APPLEMORE COLLEGE Roman Road, Dibden Purlieu, Southampton, Hampshire, SO45 4RQ (category of school – Foundation School) with effect from September 2025.

2. Applemore College currently operates a Resourced Provision for pupils with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD). Due to reduced demand and improved SEN support within most secondary schools, the proposal is to reduce the SpLD Resourced Provision by eight places from 20 to 12 from September 2025. This change will not affect the overall capacity of mainstream places at Applemore College.

3. There is no capital cost to this proposed change.
