TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – 40MPH SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION ON B3349 READING ROAD, HOOK
GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: Will be to extend the 40mph speed limit (currently 50mph) on B3349 reading road between a point 60 metres south-east of its junction with Oak Tree Drive and a point 77 metres north of its junction with Woodgate, an approximate distance of 640 metres. This order will revoke and re-instate ‘The Hampshire (Reading Road/Griffin Way North, Hook) (Restricted Road and 40 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2024’ with no change of substance save for the revocation of schedule I restricted roads from the original 2024 order. However, these restricted roads will remain by virtue of section 82(1)(a) of the Act, 30 miles per hour with no requirement for an Order. This Order will also revoke ‘The Hampshire (Various Roads, Mattingley Area) (30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2009’ and ‘The Hampshire (B3349 Reading Road, Hook/Rotherwick/Mattingley) (50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2001’ in their entirety.

TRAFFIC ORDER PROPOSALS – 40MPH SPEED LIMIT EXTENSION ON B3349 READING ROAD, HOOK
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council (“the Council”) proposes to make the above-mentioned Order, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 84, 122(1) and 122(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act”), Part IV of Schedule 9 to the Act, and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 to the Act and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

All objections must state the grounds on which they are made. Under the requirements of current access to information legislation, any statement you make to the Council in response to this Notice may be made available to the press and to the public, who would be entitled to take copies of it if they so wished.
TITLE: The order, if made, will be known as “The Hampshire (Various Roads, Hook, Rotherwick & Mattingley) (30, 40 and 50 Miles Per Hour Speed Limit) Order 2025.”
