THE HAMPSHIRE (MIDDLE BROOK STREET, WINCHESTER) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

GENERAL NATURE AND EFFECTS OF THE ORDER: will be to prohibit vehicles from that length of Middle Brook Street, Winchester between its junction with B3331 Friarsgate and its junction with Silver Hill, an approximate distance of 101 metres – exemptions will be in place for pedal cycles, market stall holders on market days (at the times specified in the order), security carriers and any vehicle displaying a valid permit. This order will part-revoke an existing order with no change of substance save for the change described above.

Highways – Permanent Traffic Order Notices from Hampshire County Council in Winchester area

THE HAMPSHIRE (MIDDLE BROOK STREET, WINCHESTER) (PROHIBITION OF DRIVING) ORDER 2025

 

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Hampshire County Council made the above-mentioned Order on Tuesday 15th April 2025, in exercise of its powers and duties under Sections 1, 2 and 3 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 (“the Act), Part IV of Schedule 9 of the Act and of all other enabling powers, after consultation with the Chief Officer of Police in accordance with Part III of Schedule 9 of the Act, and having discharged its duty under section 122 of the Act.

 

General nature and effectS of the Order: will be to prohibit vehicles from that length of Middle Brook Street, Winchester between its junction with B3331 Friarsgate and its junction with Silver Hill, an approximate distance of 101 metres – exemptions will be in place for pedal cycles, market stall holders on market days (at the times specified in the order), security carriers and any vehicle displaying a valid permit.

 

This order will part-revoke an existing order with no change of substance save for the change described above.

 

DATE OF OPERATION: The order will come into force on Thursday 1st May 2025.

APPLICATION TO THE HIGH COURT: Any person desiring to question the validity of the Order or of any of its provisions on the grounds that it is not within the relevant powers of the Act, or that any of the relevant requirements of the Act or of any relevant instrument made thereunder has not been complied with in relation to the Order may, by Tuesday 27th May 2025 make application for the purpose to the High Court.
