Audit of the Group Accounts of the Police and Crime Commissioner and the Accounts of the Chief Constable 2018/19: Notice of Public Rights

This notifies the audit of the 2018/19 accounts and public inspection rights.

AUDITS OF THE GROUP ACCOUNTS OF THE POLICE AND CRIME COMMISSIONER AND THE ACCOUNTS OF THE CHIEF CONSTABLE

NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that in accordance with Sections 26 and 27 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 and Regulations 14 and 15 of the Accounts and Audit Regulations 2015:

1.        From 1 June to 12 July 2019 inclusive, any local government elector or any journalist on application to the Chief Finance Officer to the Chief Constable (on behalf of the Chief Constable and the Chief Finance Officer to the Police and Crime Commissioner), c/o The Castle, Winchester, SO23 8UB and during normal office hours, may inspect the accounting records for the financial year ended 31 March 2019 and may inspect and make copies of all or any books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers, receipts and other documents relating to those records.

2.        From 1 June to 12 July 2019 inclusive, the Auditor, at the request of any local government elector for the area to which the accounts relate, will give the elector (or their representative) an opportunity to question her about the accounts, and any such elector (or their representative) may attend before the Auditor at The Castle and make objections as to any matter in respect of which the Auditor could take action under Section 28 of the Local Audit and Accountability Act 2014 (namely, the declaration that an item of account is unlawful), or could make a report in the public interest under Schedule 7 of the 2014 Act.

3.        No objection may be made unless the Auditor has previously received written notice of the proposed objection stating the facts on which the local government elector relies, the grounds upon which the objection is being made and particulars of any such objection.
