Coronavirus response: Helping to feed the vulnerable and children of key workers
As caterers in education, and for visitor attractions and the workplace, we provided crucial support during the coronavirus crisis. We’ve found new ways to provide meals to those who most need them. We have fed high quality nutritious meals to children of key workers attending school. We have put together lunch boxes for children entitled to free school meals. This makes sure they didn’t go hungry and met the unique needs of each school.

- meals were fed to children eligible for free school meals
It’s been a lifesaver. I cannot thank you enough, especially as we live in the middle of nowhere and we’re scared and unable to go to the shops easily so vouchers would have been useless.
As a family we have not had the need to ask for help from our school to feed our children, but we know parents that have had to and they have felt really lucky to get so much help.
As a Governance Board we wanted to say a massive thanks for all that you are doing for the children and the staff at our school, especially during this difficult time.
I’ve had really positive feedback from families about the food put together. Parents were very appreciative and felt the content was more than expected, and a good range of quality products.
Rescue Recipes
During the initial months of the outbreak, we also compiled ‘Rescue Recipes’ and food hacks. These helped families make the most of limited ingredients and reduce food waste. For parents with limited income or limited skills in the kitchen, this has been of immense benefit. Over 7,000 families accessed our online recipes in May alone!
We held a Facebook live event for parents to ask questions about how to make the most of ingredients.

Brilliant, looking forward to adding this to our week.
Helping the older residents of Hampshire
For older residents, nutrition and health is even more important during this time as they are more vulnerable. We swiftly stepped up to the plate to help with catering staff shortages in Hampshire care homes. We sent staff in closed kitchens to help feed residents. Our colleagues rose to the occasion to help the vulnerable as well as council staff.
