Recycling cooking oil into biofuel
We recycle our waste cooking oil through our supplier Bidfood. Bidfood has teamed up with partner Olleco to provide a waste cooking oil recycling service. Every drop of used cooking oil collected by Olleco from our sites is recycled into renewable energy.
The used cooking oil is taken from our kitchens to one of three processing sites, located in Southampton, Wales or Liverpool. The oil is de-packed, heated, cleaned, filtered, and then sent to Olleco's recycling plant in Liverpool. The finished product is a component of biodiesel which is used as an alternative fuel in transportation. Biodiesel gives more than a 86% greenhouse carbon saving compared to regular fossil diesel.
