It was a hat trick for HC3S’ catering team at Endeavour Primary School as they scooped three awards at the LACA, the organisation that represents the school catering industry across the country, Awards For Excellence.
Not only did they win primary school catering team of the year but they won the VegPower Caterer’s Challenge, sponsored by Tilda, and the new award, The Tilda Challenge. Entries were evaluated for their creativity, enthusiasm and commitment to encourage children to try more veg during the campaign.
The judges selected them as winners because the stall was not only highly visual but became a gathering point which led to discussions about vegetables between teaching staff and pupils. The judges were also really impressed with how the team encouraged all different age groups of children to participate from posters to art displays and a recipe development competition. The Tilda challenge recipe was cooked in front of industry professionals at LACA and recipe cards given out to school caterers. It will appear on VegPower’s website alongside recipes from Jamie Oliver, Sir Paul McCartney and Marcus Rashford and can also be found on the HC3S recipe page and be sent to thousands of families to try at home.
Our catering team at The Hamble School also won the award for Secondary School Catering Team of the Year for its dedication to meeting students and staff needs and turning the meal service around.
