Schoolchildren across Hampshire enjoyed a pancake day themed dessert as part of school lunch this week.
Pancakes were made more delicious with fruit salad as their topping. Pieces of whole fruit are a good way of increasing more fibre into children’s diets.
Many primary school age children don’t eat enough fibre – the recommended amount is 20g each day – which is really good for gut health and supporting children’s immune system. The fruit also helps boost more vitamins and minerals into children’s diets. The healthier children are means potentially better school attendance so a healthy themed lunch is a way that HC3S helps children eat well.
