I work for Hampshire Library Service within the Business Development Team as an apprentice. I started in January 2017.
Within my first week I was instantly involved in important daily tasks. One of these tasks was to create social media posts. When asked to do this, I remember feeling my heart beat go slightly faster and nerves kicked in! Posting on social media is something most people do within their daily lives now and I have my own social media accounts that I confidently post on.
However posting on social media for the Hampshire Library Service and representing a public service did worry me at first. I had to quickly learn and appreciate the high standards including the broad audiences these posts attract. It worried me at first, as I had never done anything like that before. Nevertheless, with some guidance and support I created my first ever social media post for Hampshire Library Service!
Since this first week, and allowing my nerves to calm down, I am creating social media posts and updates as daily tasks. I have a lot more confidence and knowledge, although I am still learning new styles and ways to produce social media posts. Even my family now call me a ‘social media posting pro’ and are always interested in seeing what I may have uploaded.
I not only post from behind the scenes but sometimes I make the front cover of the social media post!
