New seasonal sensations in our primary schools
Good eating habits last a lifetime so it’s even more important that our primary school menu changes to introduce children to new exciting dishes as well as some long-standing favourites. At 530 calories for a two-course meal, the new menu launches this April to provide children with a level of nutrition that will promote future health.
With seasonal tastes and trends, it includes lots of tried and tested dishes to tempt even the fussiest of young eaters and many items on the menu are also inclusive for children with a variety of medical special diets. In accordance with the School Food Plan and Soil Association’s Food for Life Served Here accreditation, parents can be satisfied that their children are eating honest food, with 75% cooked from scratch, responsibly sourced with many ingredients sourced locally.
We are linking in with #VegPower, the nationally recognised campaign that encourages children to eat more vegetables; our new vegetable swirl is an innovative way to help children ‘eat them to defeat them’.
With the addition of a salad selection each day and freshly made bread, our menus are carefully planned to help your children flourish.
Remember, all children in KS1 are entitled to a free school lunch. This includes the main red and green dishes (meat and vegetarian), jacket potato, picnic lunch and even our high street inspired ‘Streets’ menu in some infant and primary schools.
Find the new downloadable menus in weekly picture format to show your child from 4 April. Or follow us on Facebook for our 3 pm following day updates.
Calshot Activity Centre, Lepe Country Park and Manor Farm are just a few of the sites where HC3S run food outlets. Next time you are visiting one of Hampshire’s many local attractions, be sure to come in for a bite.
