30 years at HC3S
Take a trip though time and find out more about some of our longest-serving members of staff
Sharon Slade - 29 years
I loved maths at school and had a flare for numbers so loved working as part of the team and in 1995 I decided to go full time.
In 1998 my role changed to finance assistant and in 2000 as part of an internal training initiative, I gained my AAT qualification at Eastleigh College, having been permitted to attend college once a week on day release. 2003 brought another role change to finance officer and I was put in charge of all the data entry clerks. Then in 2011 my colleague who managed the finance team retired and I became the overall finance manager overseeing both teams.
I have seen many software programs the County Council adopted over the years. Most noticeably the vast changes in efficiency processes; just think we used to post floppy disks to units for them to enter their figures and then post them back to us. How the times have changed. A move in offices this year meant I left the office I had worked in for 29 years. Luckily for me only another 100 steps as I live locally. I have seen many faces come and go over nearly 30 years, but I love being part of the team here at HC3S and look forward to being part of its continuing success.
