Down at the fruit farm: Children learn how fruit is grown with care for the environment

After a tour of the strawberry polytunnels, pupils saw for themselves how high quality fruit is grown with care for the environment following LEAF's Integrated Farm Management principles. Strawberries are grown in coir substrate (the material that surrounds a coconut shell) which is renewable and ecologically sound. The children were fascinated touching the coconut and hearing about how wildlife and biodiversity are monitored on the farm and how they enhance habitats.
