About our services

HC3S provide catering services across Hampshire schools and cafes. We hire enthusiastic and customer-focused team members who want to make a difference. Full and part-time vacancies are available across Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

We help ensure that primary, secondary or special educational needs pupils are eating a healthy and nutritious meal each day. We also give great customer service to other outlets including, Hilliers Gardens and Arboretum and our own in-house coffee shop and The Castle Restaurant at Hampshire County Council HQ in Winchester.

    Chef Manager

    As a highly organised and proactive multi-tasker your love of cooking and natural leadership skills will motivate your team to deliver excellent service along with tasty healthy meals.

    You are responsible for the catering service at a specific school, set of schools or production unit, this will include both hands on cooking and preparation of foods as well as being the first point of contact for clients or customers on a day to day basis.

    Our enthusiastic cook supervisors lead a team of catering assistants ensuring that our fresh nutritious meals are served on time daily.

    As a cook supervisor in a busy primary school kitchen, you’ll lead a team of catering assistants to prepare, cook and serve lunch to pupils. You’ll also carry out other kitchen cleaning and clearing tasks.

    Our catering assistants are a vital part of our kitchen teams, undertaking essential tasks and providing support that ensures the daily service runs smoothly. If you have a positive can-do attitude and want to be part of the school community, this could be for you.

    As a catering assistant working in a busy school kitchen, you’ll help prepare, cook and serve lunch to pupils, as well as carrying out other kitchen tasks, including cleaning, and setting up and clearing the school dining hall or eating areas.

    In a mobile role, you’ll be required to travel to various schools in the area to provide cover. Often you’ll be contacted in the morning and advised which school you are required to attend. You will work in a variety of teams and different kitchen environments. Depending on your role, you will either lead or be part of the kitchen team, so you will have good communication skills, be flexible and quickly adapt to working in different teams.

The training we provide

All staff receive health and safety; moving and handling; food safety and allergen training. We encourage those who want to progress to undertake the training they'll need to succeed. All catering roles are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

It helped me understand the process of the paperwork and I now have a clear understanding of HC3S procedures. I have a better understanding of the role of Cook Supervisor - Student, Food Safety Level 3

Staff development and training

HC3S will ensure that you receive the full training and support you require to be successful and confident in your new role. This includes a full induction and Mandatory training courses, which include Health, Safety, Moving and Handling, and Food Safety and Allergen training.

For staff looking to progress their career we offer our Professional Skills Programme, a range of courses designed to help you develop your skills and progress in the organisation.

Bespoke training

As a registered centre for the Royal Society for Public Health (RSPH), we deliver the Level 2 and Level 3 Food Safety in Catering qualification and the Level 2 Award in Identifying and Controlling Food Allergy Risks.

Our in-house training team provide these courses to a range of external organisations. All our food safety and allergen risk courses can be delivered within the workplace.

The in-house training team are also responsible for staff development. We value all our staff and are happy to hear from those who wish to develop their skills. Get in touch for more information.
