Schools IT Service Update

Hampshire County Council (HCC) is withdrawing the following services:

  • Hampshire Hosted Service (HSS) 
    Fully managed IT support ends 31 July 2021
     
  • Selected Core IT SLA products 
    Varying end dates between now and July 2021
 

Key points

  • Schools using HSS are recommended to make alternative IT support arrangements as early as possible and have new arrangements agreed and operational in readiness for 1 August 2021
  • Decommissioning of existing HSS schools will be phased, with specific timings to be confirmed case by-case in discussion between HCC, the school and third-party providers as appropriate
  • Schools are advised to follow their usual due diligence procurement approach as defined by their governing body. Schools should review the Government procurement advice for schools
  • All HSS schools have been contacted by phone, with meetings arranged to discuss procurement, other suppliers and in-house support. School specific requirements will be confirmed as part of these discussions
  • HPSN (internet) and Capita SIMS (Schools Information Management System) will continue unchanged
  • Internet connectivity options for Hampshire schools will be offered as part of ‘HPSN3’, to follow the existing contract end date for HPSN2.1 of 31 Dec 2022
  • If appropriate, HCC will pro-rate costs for services that are terminated by either party mid-year
  • Schools currently taking SIMS and Core IT SLA will see revised pricing, with an overall annual saving when the Core IT SLA terminates on 31 July 2021
  • HCC will stop managing school’s Microsoft Office 365 tenancies* when the Core IT SLA terminates on 31st July 2021

FAQs - Service Level Agreement (SLA) Core

1 What is ‘Core SLA’? The ‘Core SLA’ is a range of IT products that a school can choose to take from the County Council. The full list of products that have been available in the Core SLA are in the appendix of these FAQs. 23 Jan 2020
2 When will the County Council stop supplying the Core SLA products? We will stop providing products from the Core SLA on the 31st July 2021. Schools will need to renew their own Microsoft Licenses from 1st November 2020. 23 Jan 2020
3 Where can I get advice and guidance to make the right choice for my school? Your HSS account manager will be contacting your school’s headteacher between 28th January and 31st January to arrange an initial meeting with you to discuss the changes to your IT support and services. The initial meetings will take place after the February 2020 half-term holiday. 23rd Jan 2020
4 Will the County Council arrange suitable alternative suppliers? No, however we can sign-post you to necessary information and guidance. 23 Jan 2020
5 Will the County Council recommend a new supplier? No. 23 Jan 2020
6 Will the County Council still provide internet access for my school? The HPSN2.1 service is available until 31st December 2022. The Council will procure a new HPSN contract to continue after that point and you will have the opportunity to continue to buy in to that service. 23 Jan 2020
7 Will the County Council still host and support Capita SIMS? Yes. The Core SIMS support for centrally hosted and locally hosted Capita SIMS will continue. 23 Jan 2020
