Half way point yay!!!
So it’s been 4 months since my first blog and six months since I began my Customer Service Level 2 diploma with Hampshire Futures, working for the Hampshire Library Service.
I’m now fully integrated into my role at Gosport Discovery Centre and feel like I make a worthwhile contribution to the team. I’ve been told by colleagues I’m part of the furniture and also that my ‘Newbie’ card is well and truly spent. I have my own responsibilities and projects alongside the usual day-to-day tasks, including Discovery Club, a monthly children’s group aimed at 8-11 year olds, which I’m proud to say continues to be a success.
I now feel like I’ve got to grips with the whole ‘work study sleep repeat’ scenario. It’s become more like baking a cake, and less like juggling octopuses (or is it Octopi?!) as long as I use the right ingredients in the right amounts I’m winning. Add 1 cup of study to 3 cups of work, combine gently. Add a generous amount of food, mix slowly. Add 2 cups of sleep and let it rest somewhere warm and quiet. In a separate bowl combine 2 parts family to 1 part friends, combine all ingredients and ta da! A perfect recipe for a winning work-life balance. Just like a Victoria sponge only less calories and much more satisfying!
I continue to feel extremely lucky to have been given the opportunity to not only study for a nationally-recognised qualification but to be undertaking it in such a friendly and worthwhile work environment. I’d encourage anyone considering starting their career with an apprenticeship at Hampshire County Council to go for it, it’s a great place to be.
