DESCRIPTION:On D-Day, 6 June 1944, nearly 133,000 Allied troops landed on the Normandy beaches to begin liberating France. Thousands had waited in temporary rural camps - known as Marshalling Area camps - unseen by most due to wartime secrecy. Despite their importance, these camps remain relatively under-documented today.
