If you are not a member of the LGPS, or are currently a member of the 50/50 section, in line with the Pension Act 2008 the Government require all employers to automatically enrol their eligible employees into the main section of the scheme every three years.
You are eligible under automatic enrolment if you:
- are at least 22 years old,
- have not reached state pension age,
- earn more than a minimum amount a year (£10,000), and
- normally work in the UK under a contract of employment.
Hampshire Pension Services have been notified that for some employers, the 3 yearly cyclical automatic enrolment will take place from 1 April 2025.
You do not have to do anything as your employer will make all the arrangements to enrol you. However, if you are unsure if you will be affected, we advise you to contact your employer in the first instance as being enrolled into the scheme will result in pension contributions being deducted from your pay.
Please be aware that if you are automatically enrolled but do not want to be a member, you will need to complete another opt out form, even if you have previously or only recently done so.
