Assistant Director, Children and Families

Stuart has worked for the County Council for over 25 years, having started as a social worker, and has worked in various roles within the Children and Families branch of Children’s Services. Stuart has worked across the county.

Stuart was appointed Assistant Director for Hampshire Children’s Services in January 2016, having worked at a senior level in the Department since 2010. Stuart has also led the County Council’s strategic partnership work, improving Children’s Services at the Isle of Wight Council. He also heads up the Department for Education’s Partners in Practice programme work for Hampshire, as well as the delivery of improvement support to a number of local authorities in the region.

Stuart’s chief responsibilities for Hampshire County Council and the Isle of Wight Council are:

  • Children’s Social Care
  • Safeguarding including Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub
  • Adoption and Fostering
  • Children with Disabilities including respite and short breaks activities
  • Residential Service including Secure Unit
  • Youth Offending Service
  • Family Support Service
