An architect by background, Steve has led Hampshire County Council’s Property Services for 10 years, delivering a full asset and facilities management service to the Council and other public sector clients.
The business turnover is in excess of £40m in budget, fees and income. It designs, manages and delivers around £150m of construction activity a year and is responsible for the safe stewardship of around 10,000 buildings on 1,000 sites.
Steve leads a multi disciplinary team of around 500 staff who oversee the Council’s varied estate which includes schools, libraries, nursing homes, farms and a wide range of significant and historic assets. The service also designs and delivers programmes of work for other public sector organisations including County and Borough Councils, Fire and Police services together with a number of bespoke commissions for prestigious clients like Winchester Cathedral. On average, income from external clients is around £10m each year.
Steve leads a number of regional and national initiatives including work to support policy and delivery of school buildings for the Department of Education. The service also manages a number of collaborative procurement arrangements for the public sector including construction frameworks which turnover around £2bn of activity over their lifetime.
