Stewards at Hillier Gardens

About the opportunity

Sir Harold Hillier Gardens have a world renowned botanical collection within 180 acres situated near Romsey and is a registered charity.  Originally the private garden of Sir Harold Hillier and his family they were given in trust to Hampshire County Council in 1977.  Our Volunteer Scheme has been in place for over 20 years .

Tasks and duties

Tasks vary from helping with events – including some weekend evenings - to being on  exhibition stands both on and off site. (e.g. New Forest Show)

  • Car Parking
  • Checking tickets
  • Handing out leaflets
  • Providing health and safety security
  • Giving information to visitors

Training 

Volunteers will be given a full induction prior to a starting date.

Full instructions will be given in advance of any event regarding specific requirements for the event in question

Commitment

Stewarding is usually required during the summer months from May to September although there can be some dates throughout the year.

Times can vary according to each event. Evening concerts are normally on a Saturday from 5pm until 10pm but  exhibition stands at shows could be from 9am until 6pm

Who we are looking for

You will

  • have previous experience of stewarding would be an advantage
  • be able to spend lengthy periods of time standing
  • have good interpersonal skills
  • be willing to learn about Sir Harold Hillier Gardens and various events
  • be a team player
