Climate Change COP26 Event
To celebrate the United Kingdom hosting COP26, Hampshire County Council hosted a two-day event at the Queen Elizabeth Country Park Visitor Centre to showcase climate change projects. Aimed at businesses and communities, it addressed carbon mitigation and climate change adaptation, celebrated what organisations and members of the public are doing to help, and helped people to identify what they can do next.
COP26 Business Day - 29 October
This day hosted for businesses, featured a “Business Hampshire Conference: The Journey to Carbon Neutral” which explored the significant role Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) play in the transition to carbon neutral. Businesses were invited to learn more on:
- The steps Hampshire businesses are already taking to align themselves with the carbon neutral agenda
- The opportunities and benefits this can bring
- What actions businesses can take to drive the transition
- What support and resources are available to businesses on their carbon neutral journey.

COP26 Community Day - 30 October
The Community Day featured interactive displays to show the steps that can be taken to reduce carbon emissions and be prepared for the impacts of a changing climate. The displays showcased information from energy efficiency to reducing waste, benefitting wildlife and much more. This included projects that are being delivered by Hampshire County Council as well as our partners and local communities across the County.
