  • prevent anyone from breaking environmental law, investigate cases where environmental law may have been broken, and take any action that is needed;
  • assess whether customers are satisfied with our service and improve it where necessary; and
  • respond to requests for information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (if the Data Protection Act allows). 

We may pass the information on to our agents or representatives to do these things for us.

Privacy notice

  • Hampshire County Council collects information about you to provide you with Ordinary Watercourse Consent 
  • We will use the information for establishing where works will take place and to be able to contact you regards our decision
  • The legal basis for our use of this information where it is necessary for compliance of a legal obligation to which the County Council is subject.
  • We may share your personal information with the Environment Agency, Natural England and your local district Council
  • We will keep your personal information for 6 months or until such time as the case is closed / resolved
