Watercourse pre-application form

Step 1 of 6: About This Form

This form is to request a pre-application review and advice for works to ordinary watercourses. This is a chargeable service with the fees below. Please note that this is not to be used to submit a formal application for consent. 

Review and advice will include:

  • specific advice on what you need to consider for the proposed works on your site
  • advice about the level of detail we need from you,  in order for us to validate the application

There is an initial charge of £70 (+VAT) which covers review of information and a written response.

There is an additional charge of £50 per hour to cover additional work including any meetings or site visits.  An estimate of cost, based on the time, would be provided.

Privacy Notice

  • Hampshire County Council collects information about you to provide you with Ordinary Watercourse Consent Pre-Application Advice
  • We will use the information for establishing where works will take place and to be able to contact you regards our advice
  • The legal basis for our use of this information where it is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest in the exercise of official authority vested in the County Council.
  • We may share your personal information with the Environment Agency, Natural England and your local district Council
  • We will keep your personal information for 6 months or until such time as the case is closed / resolved
  • You have some legal rights in respect of the personal information we collect from you.  Please see our Data Protection page for further details

Multiple files must be uploaded together if required to a maximum of 10 files. Adding files separately will overwrite any already uploaded. Files should not exceed 10mb individually or 20mb for the form as a whole. (Valid file extensions are .doc, .docx, .jpeg, .jpg, .pdf, .png, .xls, .xlsx, .cpg, .dbf, .prj. sbn, .sbx, .shp, .shx, .tiff.)

Step 5 of 6: Declaration and Payment

I understand that in using advice provided by the Hampshire Flood and Water Management Team I am aware of the following:

1.  The Flood and Water Management (FWM) Team is part of Hampshire County Council (“We/Us/Our”). The Council holds copyright of this information and advice on behalf of the FWM team except where service level agreements state otherwise. No direct reproduction of this advice will be allowed as a direct copy, except for the purpose of Environment Information Requests.

2.  Advice provided by the Hampshire FWM Team will only be used for the purpose stated and will not be stored beyond the life of the project for which it was acquired.

3.  Any personal information supplied in association with these records will not be used, copied, or passed to any third party without the consent of the Hampshire FWM Team and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

4.  Whilst every reasonable effort is made to validate information supplied to and by the Hampshire FWM Team owing to the dynamic and judgmental nature of information relating to flooding, Hampshire disclaims any responsibility for the accuracy or comprehensiveness of the information supplied, and accepts no liability for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages or losses arising from use of the information.
