Summer reading challenge 2021

It’s easy to take part – just sign up online or at your local library and read six books over the summer. You can download certificates for each step of the way and earn a medal when you complete the challenge.

Library membership

You’ll need a Hampshire Library membership number to take part. If you’re not already a member of Hampshire Libraries, you can join straight away. There’s a special video to show you how to join. Don’t worry if you’ve forgotten your number, you can get a reminder email here.

What counts towards your six-book challenge?

Whether it’s a storybook you read yourself, a bedtime story you share with your family, or an audiobook you listen to in the car – it all counts towards your six-book challenge.

Keep your reading record up to date

Once you’ve read your first your first book, make sure you to keep your reading record up to date. You can pick up a free Wild World Heroes collector’s card from your local library with stickers to mark each stage of your reading challenge. Let us know your progress by filling in your reading record online or by visiting your local Hampshire library and telling us how many books you’ve read.

Not sure where to start?

You can find loads of book recommendations, reviews and more on the Kids’ Zone. And you can find thousands of free-to-download ebooks and audiobooks using Hampshire Libraries BorrowBox.
