This spring we are upgrading the public ‘Go Online’ computer terminals and installing a more convenient coin-free public printing system in all libraries. The first library to switch to the new system is Aldershot, who will make the change on Friday 14 February.

New Go Online terminals
The new public computers will provide full access to the internet through Google Chrome. Computer users who have an existing Microsoft or Google account will be able to log into their accounts and access their own documents and online versions of popular apps like Word.

Anyone who doesn’t have a Microsoft or Google account will be able to use simple online tools like, text editors, to create and print documents from the Go Online terminals.

Google Chrome also makes it simple for customers to log into their own email accounts through the web browser.

The upgraded public computers cannot be pre-booked and at busy times customers may need to wait until a Go Online computer is available.

Printing and photocopying
The move away from coin boxes for printing and photocopying will make it easier for customers to print or photocopy as much as they need, without bringing lots of loose change to the library.

The new payment system, which is called Print in City, allows anyone who wants to print a document in Aldershot Library to create an account, purchase print credit and print through a unique code. To create an account customers will need a valid email address and a debit or credit card to add credit to their account.

Customers who prefer not to create their own Print in City account can purchase print credits from the library Helpdesk with a debit card or cash. There is no minimum amount for debit card purchases.

Print in City and the new computers will initially only be available in Aldershot Library. For more information on public computers and printing in all other libraries please visit our website.
