Ink Illustration at Farnborough Library
Art workshop on 1 April, 10am to 1pm
This course aims to provide something for everyone. For the beginner who wants to learn about the basics of drawing and painting with ink or for the more experienced ones who want the chance to experiment and wish to receive constructive criticism. It is also a workshop focused to motivate creative using different resources. We will use many different references from contemporary past artists and other cultures.
The agenda of the workshop will be as follows. A brief introduction, using examples from artists, about the art of ink drawing and how different artists used the technique in many different ways and styles. We will work with black ink and pencils learning what possibilities we have, how to analyse and build our illustrations (composition, light etc). We will do fun and instructive exercises to gain confidence, knowing your material and tools, using different types of brushes, nibs and exercises. We will learn about them and their possibilities, playing with light and shadows, texture, composition, create and illustration. After each exercise, we will analyse and discuss the results, and constructive criticism will be provided. We will introduce colour for those that want to add it (although the aim of this exercise is black and white) and we will then create our final illustration.
There will be an additional five pounds for materials payable to the tutor on the day of the workshop, Saturday 1 April between 10am to 1pm.
