About this course
For those who have completed a beginner plus or improvers course and would like to keep improving. This course will assume that you can hold and tune your ukulele and can already play some chords and strum along to some songs. You will learn some more chords and songs to improve your technique and repertoire.
- Perform a barre chord
- Perform a selection of strumming patterns
- Identify ukulele tab
- Perform a melody or riff using tab
- Perform at least 5 popular songs as a group
It is preferred if learners bring their own instrument; soprano, concert or tenor models are most suitable. However, there will be ukuleles for hire by prior arrangement. Bringing a 'clip on' tuner will also be very helpful. All course materials will be provided.
The chord fingerings of the ukulele are similar to those used on the guitar but much easier to manage, so this course could also be seen as a step towards playing the guitar.
Prerequisite skills include: Reading, simple maths and ability to use individual fingers.
This workshop could lead to a Ukulele Improvers Course, a workshop or membership of a local club.
Attendance is expected at each session to ensure that you get the most out of your learning experience and to minimise disruption for other learners. Please advise the venue/tutor of any absence you may have.
