This online course is suitable for both complete novices as well as those wishing to refresh their skills. It will equip you with skills to be able to undertake emergency first aid if someone becomes ill or injured and consists of 5 hours of instructor led tuition with the emphasis on the theoretical application of first aid skills

By the end of the course you will be able to…

  • Describe how your role plays a vital part in survival and outcome of the patient. (Wk1)
  • Describe the treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious (breathing) patient. (Wk1)
  • Describe the treatment and priorities of care for an unconscious (not breathing) patient. (Wk2)
  • Describe the delivery of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). (Wk2)
  • Describe the recognition and treatment of a heart attack & cardiac arrest. (Wk2)
  • Describe the recognition and treatment of a stroke, fits and allergic reactions. (Wk3)
  • Describe how to treat a patient who is choking and a patient who is bleeding. (Wk3)
