Throughout the coronavirus pandemic we have invested in our digital offer, ensuring that our customers can continue to enjoy a range of services beyond books and magazines - from online workshops and activities to Rhymetime sessions and bedtime stories on our Facebook page.
We know that many of you have missed visiting the library and borrowing physical books. Because our buildings are not due to reopen until July, we are offering paperbacks and hardbacks once again, with the launch of Ready Reads: We Select, You Collect. This is a new book collection service, where our teams select handpick books according to your preferences, for you to collect from your local library.
You can sign up for Ready Reads by using our simple Ready Reads request form. Or phone 01962 454747 (local rate charges apply). Our teams are experts at choosing good books and they are looking forward to using their experience and knowledge to help you get the most from your local library, even while the buildings remain closed. We hope signing up for Ready Reads will give you a chance to try something new. Who knows - you may just discover your next favourite author!
We have also relaunched our book reservations service, where you pay a small fee to reserve a book. This service can also be accessed by phone: 01962 454747.
We know that many of you have questions about returning books and fines on overdue books. Most of our branches can accept returns, but we are not operating our usual opening hours and you cannot enter the branch. Fines for books that were due to be return while our libraries are closed will be frozen until early August, to give everyone time to return their books safely. Looking ahead we look forward to being able to welcome you all back into our libraries in July and will share more details of our plans for reopening with you as soon as possible.
