A place for the whole community at New Milton Library

New community rooms and an improved layout will soon be revealed at New Milton Library thanks to a £87,000 refurbishment by Hampshire County Council

The County Council’s Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage, Councillor Seán Woodward, said: “New Milton Library is the latest Hampshire Library where we have focussed on making changes which make it easier for customers to access a range of modern facilities, technology and books. Now visitors of all ages have a dedicated space to meet for learning, literacy and social activities thanks to a new community room.

“We also know that a love of reading can begin at an early age which is why we have relocated the children’s library to the ground floor so that parents and families with buggies or wheelchairs can easily browse our shelves. Popular adult fiction will also be displayed on the ground floor for quick and easy access, along with the more popular adult non-fiction.”

A full redecoration, updated facilities, and additional spaces which can be hired out, complete the new look. The library will reopen on Monday 10 June.

Councillor Woodward added: “Customers are encouraged to come along and take advantage of these improvements, all while enjoying the free, in-branch facilities including book borrowing, WIFI and baby and toddler sessions.”
