Many people are not aware of how to look after their mental wellbeing, but the Local Authority’s Five Ways to Wellbeing
campaign can help. This includes the practice of mindfulness, alongside connecting with others, being active, continuing to learn and giving to others. Mindfulness is a widely recognised approach which helps people to stay in the present moment and focus on the physical world, letting go of stress and worries, to develop a positive mindset and deal with difficult thoughts and feelings.
Mental Health Awareness Week is an initiative led by the Mental Health Foundation
who will be supporting hundreds of events around the country to raise awareness of the importance of mental wellbeing and inspire action to promote the message of good mental health for everyone.
