Hampshire’s ‘Buy with Confidence’ scheme is part of a national register of Trading Standards approved businesses, run by local authorities. Founded in 1999, it has since registered nearly 1,000 businesses, so that independent traders can prove to residents they are professional and trustworthy.

Leader of Hampshire County Council, Councillor Keith Mans, said: “Ensuring Hampshire residents can confidently choose skilled and reliable tradespeople, and are protected against rogue traders, lies at the heart of the work of our Trading Standards officers. ‘Buy with Confidence’ has now become an extremely well recognised national benchmark which residents look out for and trust.”

Toucan Travel, in Chineham, has been a ‘Buy With Confidence’ member since 2004. General Manager, Jo Matley, explained: “We find that people are more and more aware of the importance of looking for your company credentials. Clients want to feel and know that they’ve made the right choice. With us being a ‘Buy With Confidence’ member, our customers know straightaway that they’re financially protected, and choosing a trustworthy business to book their holiday through. We hope that our ‘Buy with Confidence’ accreditation instils confidence in our existing and new customers.”
