A Hampshire County Council refurbishment will see the popular town library temporarily close in April for the installation of a community room as well as new decoration and an improved layout throughout.

New Milton Library is the latest in a series of Hampshire County Council local libraries to close for refurbishment. The works will total £87,000.

The Children’s Library will be relocated to the ground floor, making it easier for families with buggies or wheelchairs to use it. The work will also include full redecoration and updating of the facilities, a new community room and provision of additional hireable spaces. Some sections of the library will be reorganised to ensure the most popular sections are the most easily accessible on the ground floor.

New Milton Library will close to members of the public from Monday 8 April, with plans to reopen in June to be announced in due course. This is the biggest refurbishment to the branch in years, following short closures in 2018 for the installation of self-service kiosks and in 2014 for roofing work.

During this time, customers can take advantage of many free online resources such as Borrowbox a free app offering a wide range of fiction and non-fiction e-books and audiobooks across Android and Apple devices. People can also visit the nearby branches of Lymington and Lyndhurst.
